ClubsACT 2024 Clubs & Community Awards Night

Rounding out a year of the ClubsACT partnership with the Canberra Hospital Foundation (‘CHF’) was the annual ClubsACT Clubs & Community Awards Night 2024. One year ago, ClubsACT committed to supporting the CHF in the Compete for OUR HEART Challenge. The Challenge saw clubs putting on creative and compassionate drives to raise money for the CHF, including fundraising at sports games, sponsoring five Club leaders to partake in the Big Wig challenge, the Return Giving Recycling Program and competing in the Best Burger competition. One year on, Canberra’s clubs have raised almost $40,000 for the Foundation.

As chair of the CHF Susan had the privilege of presenting the Heart of the Community - Club of the Year award to The Canberra Southern Cross Club (Large Club) and the Harmonie German Club (Small Club).

The standout fundraiser was the Best Burger competition which had Susan and her dedicated burger aficionados eating their way through the competing Clubs. The Canberra Racing Club’s ‘Feed the Seoul’ burger won the Small Club category and The Eastlake Group’s ‘CHF Chicken Burger’ took out the Large Club category. A portion of the profits from the competing burgers went towards the CHF. Participants included the Ainslie Group, Canberra Irish Club, Canberra Racing Club, Canberra Southern Cross Club, Central Social Club (Canberra Labor Club), The Eastlake Group, Harmonie German Club, The Mawson Club, the National Press Club, and the Vikings Group.
